Your Gateway to Europe through Cyprus
The EU Blue Card is an employment-based residence permit designed to attract highly skilled professionals from outside the EU. It offers a streamlined pathway to live and work in Europe, particularly in industries facing talent shortages. With the exception of Denmark and Ireland, the Blue Card is accepted across the EU.
Cyprus Joins the EU Blue Card Framework
In a strategic move to strengthen its competitiveness, Cyprus transposed Directive (EU) 2021/1883 into national law on 11 July 2024. This development opens new opportunities for skilled professionals—especially in sectors such as ICT, finance, and innovation—to live and work in Cyprus.
Benefits of the EU Blue Card for Professionals and Employers
- Work in High-Demand Roles: Legal employment with competitive salaries in sectors lacking skilled workers.
- Family Reunification: Bring your spouse and children under 18 with you, with simplified relocation procedures.
- Pathway to Residency and Citizenship: Eligible for long-term residence after 33 months and citizenship after 5 years.
- Visa-Free Travel Across the EU: Enjoy flexible mobility as a tourist within the Schengen Area.
- Access to Services and Benefits: Equal access to healthcare, education, and social security benefits.
- Professional Mobility Within the EU: Move to another EU Member State for work after 12 months in Cyprus.
